Cleaning Tips For Home Staging

When buyers walk into a super clean house, it makes a very positive impression. Aside from simply feeling more comfortable in a clean environment, buyers will also conclude that the house is well taken care of - a very important consideration that may well push your home toward the top of the list of homes for which the buyer is contemplating making an offer.

Here are some areas to pay special attention to:

  • Clean all ceiling light fixtures.

  • Remove all cobwebs from corners/ceiling areas.

  • Wash baseboards, doors, all trim.

  • Clean inside the fireplace(s), removing all ashes.

  • In the kitchen, clean inside the oven and microwave. Also, if the sink has caulking, check and re-caulk if needed.

  • In bathrooms, check all caulking around sinks, showers and tubs. Re-caulk these areas, if needed.

  • Clean grout on all tile floors.

  • For wooden floors, if there are scratches or discolorations, have these repaired.

  • Clean out the tracks on sliding doors and the wells in windows.

  • Clean all slats on blinds/shutters.

I know these tips might seem obvious, but if you take the time to make sure your home sparkles before putting it on the market, I can guarantee you’ll see a difference in how potential buyers view your home.
