Home Staging Can Benefit Sellers In A Cooling Housing Market

While mortgage rates have decreased from their recent highs, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate is still the highest it's been in over a decade. High rates have significantly curbed homebuying demand as fewer buyers can afford to purchase at the current rates. In sharp contrast to the sizzling hot market we saw for much of 2021 and part of 2022, for the time being, it will likely be challenging to sell homes in an increasingly competitive market.

Now more than ever, sellers will need to get creative in their approach to preparing their homes for sale. With increased pressure to make a home for sale stand out above its competition, sellers can benefit from home staging as a means to distinguish their homes from others on the market. According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), a professionally staged home spends 73% less time on the market compared to those that have not been staged.

In almost two decades of staging hundreds of homes, I’ve seen first-hand the dramatic benefits of home staging time and again. As a seller, your goal should be to make your house grab the attention of buyers as soon as they see your listing photos online. This way, you can ensure more buyer traffic, which results in getting top dollar and a quick sale.
